Sixty years on the hills
This year Laune Mountaineering Club turns 60.
The club was founded in 1966, the same year as Kerry Mountain Rescue, and for 25 years the two were almost one and the same. Members helped build the country's first purpose-built rescue station in Killorglin, put up the deposit for the land Cappanalea Outdoor Education Centre stands on, and have been hiking the Kerry hills every second Sunday ever since.
Thank you to every member, leader and landowner who has walked with us over the last sixty years, and to everyone who keeps the club going today.

Welcome
One of the oldest hiking clubs in Kerry
Laune MC was set up in 1966 and is based in the Laune Valley and Killorglin area. As well as climbing the Kerry mountains, we spend a weekend or two away each year on mountains in other parts of Ireland, and we finish the year with a Christmas party.
Over 18s are welcome to try two hikes before joining (what to expect on your first hike). Email the club secretary at [email protected] to come along.
